I'm here because I found the ongoing coverage of Joey Dauben to be interesting. I have a background in psychology, and his personality fascinates me (as do the personalities of several people he's associated with).
The girl that Dauben was dating got involved with Lawless America, and we were watching from the sidelines. We could see that Bill didn't seem to be what he said he was, and as time has gone on, we've really seen him to be a monster. So, that's why I am still here. It's just interesting to see how this Lawless America thing is going to evolve.
I don't have any ongoing court battles, nor have I experienced any great amount of corruption. I know it does exist because humans are flawed. I just don't think Bill is going to accomplish anything positive. In fact, I think he's going to hurt the people and the cause that he claims to be fighting for.

DeleteHas anyone else ever considered the wisdom of the Lawless America name? I’ve been thinking about how poor Mary wore a Lawless America t-shirt to a court hearing. If the court was unfamiliar with the group, he would have seen those words and assumed Mary was advocating lawlessness. Whether he knew what the name meant or not, she may as well have spit on the judge if she was going to wear that shirt in there.
But I digress.
I’ve always thought LA was a terrible name for a group that wants to get the government to follow our laws. The name makes it sound like the group advocates lawlessness. How does that name attract people who want a lawful America? Sometimes it’s very hard for me to believe William M. Windsor’s forte’ is marketing.

I’d certainly never call myself one or allow anyone else to refer to me as one. Nor would I want to associate with a group or movement that refers to its members as “nobodies”.
Second, a tag line is to get you interested in the film. Who wants to listen to people that are willing to call themselves nobodies? Not me. If YOU think you are a nobody, if you have so little self-respect that you can call yourself that, then I certainly have no reason to respect you. I’m pretty sure someone that thinks they are nobody, has nothing of value to share with me so I would not be enticed to listen to dozens of them speak.
It’s the most unappealing tag line ever, lol. But then, it is underneath the name “Lawless America”, which would already alienate a lot of people.
How can William M. Windsor really have a background in marketing? Any uneducated individual with common sense would know that the tag line DISCOURAGES viewers.

well, it was the same judge who screwed me out of justice that January when he nolled the first set of false charges- the night i was assaulted by 20 - 30 police officers- november 24, 2010, and then prosecuted for 13 months, to court every month, crying- the public defender could not believe what happened to me and said i needed to get a civil rights attorney, i was told the arrest would be 'investigated', instead judge gill threw them out- they prosecuted me for 13 months for allegedly having no insurance- i have had the same insurance company USAA out of San Antonio since i was 16- with no lapse- they are international agency, my company settled out of court for the bicyclist who flew into my car! it is still on my record that was supposed to be dropped and expunged that I allegedlly was driving with no insurance!!!! this was just the start of what ended up being 3 false arrests and attacks by the police. argh. i hope who ever is putting together a time line, which i hope i don't have to do, i have tried myself to submit to the CT Claims Commissioner for permission to sue- it was rejected- i was told i needed to include more info!!! lol! god help me! mary b.

The University and Royce C. Engstrom are well aware of this and do nothing. I am not a conspiracy theorist at all, but one of the only logical explanations for the University’s support of this type of activity is that the University somehow does this type of work for the government. As a documentary filmmaker, I will be taking a crew to Missoula to investigate this and how a teacher at your University can get away with things like this. Because of the volume of emails and postings, I have to guess that Sean M. Boushie does this on time when he is paid by the University.
I have sent a number of cease and desist notices to Sean Boushie and his various aliases. He also uses names and emails such as John Smith, Crystal Cox, CrystalCoxisaBitch, CrystalCoxVictimsGroup, gofuckyourself@yahoo.com, and others.
In addition to me, this man has sent messages to my wife and son, and they have also sent him a cease and desist notice.
In this email, he threatens them with jail and financial ruin. He has been informed NUMEROUS TIMES that my wife does not own LawlessAmerica.com, and my son's company does not hostwww.LawlessAmerica.com. The website has been and is hosted by GoDaddy. Yet he persists in lies, slander, defamation, harassment, and cyberstalking.
He claims he is suing my wife and son, and he is doing so with full knowledge that to do so is a malicious lawsuit in violation of Georgia statutes.
I have filed criminal charges against Sean Boushie in Georgia and Montana, and the U.S. Government, DC, and Virginia police were given the details, his photo, and detailed information about his criminal acts.

The reason I attended your event was to see for myself if the rumors are true. Are you anti-American, anti government? In my honest opinion YES! Anybody that attacks our form of government and cause harm to at risk families is making false claims of being a patriot. I can't imagine what these email providers think of William M. Windsor's requests. They have given him the ability to filter his mail. He has a way to block specific people. ReplyDeleteYappy: I also need to tell you that I hated you yesterday for saying what you did about my driving Walter to kill himself. For the two-plus years since Walter died I had been unable to look at pictures of him because the last one stuck in my mind from finding him dead and thinking he was asleep even though there was blood everywhere and trying to wake him up gave me nightmares. I got the pictures out last night and looked at them. I found the last one taken of him and I together and we looked happy together. I was finally able to erase the image from my mind that had been haunting me. I have brought all of the pictures back out from 40 years. So the point is that from something really bad came something good. I would like to leave it at that and not fight anymore. The bad things you think about me really aren't true. I just write about everything, often in a detached mode from how horrible it may be. I think I developed that a long time ago because much of what I saw was to horrific -- such as bodies being pulled out of a river after violent murders -- we're just more than I could emotionally engage in. And so I wish you peace in regard to your own turmoil. We all have something that plagues us.

DeleteDavid, I'm sorry for your loss. However, please do stop talking about any of the aftermath. I experienced a similar loss in an extended family member 2 years and 2 weeks ago. I saw things I never want to see again. I feel guilt that I didn't understand that person's pain. I feel anger that person didn't come to me. I know that person was trying to be selfless because of an illness, but that isn't much help. I try to remember the good times and not the bad. The state of mind he was in at the time was not the person I knew. I don't want his legacy to be based on one decision he made while in pain that he can never take back.
DeleteYou have to get past it. Enjoy your good times and happy photos. I know there is something inside that wants to share the horror you saw because you want that image to leave you. However, I don't think that it helps.
This is just my take on it from my experiences. When I go to that sad place and want to just let all my own pain out, I try to remember how he would want to be remembered. I just don't think that he'd want to be remembered by a single decision that he could never take back.
If you don't agree, I understand, but remember you talking about this is painful for me and probably others. Too close to home.

As I said prior to the trial I was prepared to change my mind if the evidence indicated something had. As it happened, I believed the victim and realized that there apparently was sexual activity. As far as your own situation and thoughts of suicide are concerned, I don't think they can be compared to my friend Walter's. He was mentally ill, had been in a hospital for a month and was discharged because the insurance company quit paying the bill. I picked him up at the hospital and took him home, and I immediately began working with his brother to try and get him readmitted to the hospital. He had lost about 100 pounds in six weeks time because he was afraid to eat. He had decided that if he ate he might choke. He wouldn't shower or shave because he was afraid if he got into water he would drown. He was suffering from a psychosis that I can't really even comprehend. It all happened so quickly that it just seems like a very bad dream now. I had no idea he had a gun in the house. I hate guns. I don't think he had ever fired it until the night he killed himself. I don't think Walter took a coward's way out. I don't think he knew what he was doing. I will never understand what happened in that six-weeks time because it came on suddenly and furiously.
Whatever your trouble is, I wish you well. I honestly have no quarrel with you. A lot of times people say things on the Internet that they have no business saying. I am guilty as anyone else of that, and I apologize for whatever I have said that offended you. I really didn't mean to do that.

As for my own thoughts of suicide I do not transcribe to the theme of M*A*S*H*. I do believe that I have yet to find my true calling and if I removed myself I would only be harming my immediate family but those I was also meant to help/inspire.
For one I would offer my condolences for your loss. I would presume that they mean little but you do have them.
My only part in all of this is The Dauben side. He threw many under the bus including myself. While I feel that he received a harsh punishment what he subjected this young man to was beyond any amount of years that he was sentenced to.
That is where my offence of what you wrote comes in at. That is the only thing I have been offended by.
I might not belong with the club house they have indeed listened to me vent, rage, among other things. I might not agree with them all the time we have honest debates here. This is where I am this is where I will be.

I do not agree that this would not have happened without alcohol. Joey used alcohol as a tool. I don't think the alcohol created Joey's desire. It was there before. I don't even think the alcohol itself probably lead to impairment of the child's decisions. Joey was already grooming and putting the kid in a situation where saying no wasn't an option (in a needing acceptance teenaged mind).
Again, this wasn't just "illegal activity." This was skilled grooming. It didn't "just happen."
Webb, you can try to sell the "anonymity" equals cowardice all you want, but it's just not true. I have a name here. It's OReader. People can see who is speaking. They can put all my comments together and see my personality and opinions. The messages are consistent because they are true and honest.

In fact, she mentioned it couple of times before she came right out and made her allegation that I drove him to commit suicide. I don't know who you think you are to know what someone who is dead would or would not want discussed, but it's my business, not yours. I can write about any aspect of my life or relationships I want. I never dreamed what was about was about to happen. Maybe reading about this story might alert someone else to prevent some similar disaster. I never dreamed Walter would kill himself. No one else did either. If I had known then what I do now, things might have turned out differently.

ReplyDelete@ OREADER: Actually, Walter shot himself in the exercise room, not the kitchen. Professional cleaners who specialize in this very task came to take care of the situation. He wasn't a "looney." It was a late-life onset of severe mental illness. You obviously need to do what I've already done, get counseling and come to terms with your grief. Unfortunately, you will be reminded of it again for the rest of your life. Sometimes, it will be because you come across a picture of a vacation, you see an old acquaintance or someone will viciously tell you that they heard a rumor about you driving him to commit suicide. No, I haven't forgotten about it and never will. It was never an option after six police cars, a coroners vehicle, a justice of the peace and a funeral home car sat outside for about five hours. There was yellow police tape surrounding the front door and garage. Finally, neighbors saw the body bad brought out on a stretcher. A week later the funeral was held in his hometown, and the preacher spoke out his suicide during the suicide, and I had nothing to do with the funeral arrangements. Someone posted on his Facebook that he had committed suicide, and no I didn't do that either. But it is nice to know that Ginger Snap has a sensitive, tasteful side that shows concerns about others' discomfort. I will mention it no more if you can find it within your hearts to quit judging me for something you nothing about.
ReplyDeleteMy point is exactly for you to stop mentioning it. Walter should be remembered more than for just suicide and mental illness. There is no point in painting a picture of that for strangers. This not a suicide survival group. I never brought up Walter. Nor did I condone yappy bringing it up. She has apologized to me multiple times privately. My loved one's suicide was about their pain and their terminal illness. Yes I grieved for the loss, but his pain was far greater than any pain his death caused me.
DeleteI don't need an further counseling. Like I said, I do not feel ot is appropriate to Walter's legacy to only talk about his death and illness to a group of strangers. Since it is not for healing or moral support, it is only self serving in a negative manner. It makes me sad for Walter. Not for me. Not for you. I don't need to know him to know he deserves better. He should not be a pawn in a game.
P.S. I have a little something called a degree in psychology that says I do know more than a little something about mental illness.

I wanted to remember good times, of which there were many, not the horror of the end. You are obviously a seriously sick individual, whomever you are, who probably needs professional help before you graduate to a more dangerous method of inflicting harm to the people you target for your wrath.

@ Webb and OReader: I am very sorry for your losses. It's hard enough to prepare for losing a loved one that is sick. Losing someone suddenly and pointlessly is very hard to understand and get past it. I can only imagine the suffering has to be horrific for someone to their own life. But, it is possible to forgive them and move on. Here's TMI - my dad died sitting in a car with the motor running and the garage doors shut. The car had been running for about 3 hours before my mother found him.

DeleteIt was the 2nd time I had to work hard at forgiving my dad, it took several years. But, now when I think of him I remember getting up at 3:30 AM to go fishing, seining minnows, road trips, how mad he got when I did something stupid but then he's bust out laughing. And he was really good at the yellow and pink questions in Trivial Pursuit. I have a picture of him on my bedroom wall.
It will come, in the mean time - distract yourself, move up 2 threads 'cause we laughing at Bill and the Lemmings.......
