Now we have Webb's story, with more details. Joey brought the raft that they ended up on together. Joey left early the next morning before the boy got up. Then we have this:
"David Stebbins, a licensed professional counselor for the University of Texas Medical System, testified he determined from the materials sent to him a year ago by the prosecution that Dauben had used the technique of "grooming" to seduce the alleged victim in 2007. That technique is used by sex addicts to gain control of victims, and it can be accomplished in minutes, days, weeks or months, depending upon the individuals involved, he said."
Joey's defense team then kicks in with the other two boys who were with them that night but had gone to bed before Joey and the boy went out on his raft. They claim that it was the boy's father that had the wild turkey that Joey gave to the boy and that Joey was drinking beer (Joey always drank liquor, I don't ever remember him drinking beer).
Then we have the boy and Joey exchanging a message well after the incident with the boy:
"The next message shows that the alleged victim responded to the bulletin with the message, "That's awesome. What exactly are you doing up there?" Dauben responded that he was attending a public policy hearing and said, "Let's get together. I hear a shower calling my name."
So enter now Mommy Dauben, as Cheri tries to come to the rescue and explain away that shower calling reference as just a Joeyism that he used all the time. Hey and who is to argue with her, she is after all a Dauben therefore she must be right.
you know, we have discussed this topic several times on here, that being Mommy and Daddy's direct involvement in Joey's problems by enabling and defending him. This is a perfect example of that. No one is faulting them for supporting and sticking by Joey, but they both take the extra step by enabling him.
ReplyDeleteWhat Cheri passed off in court today I think insulted the jury. Saying things like Joey liked to let the shower run while doing other things waiting for it to get hot....ummm that's quite a few people do that. I think this little mommy testimony is going to have a reverse effect on the jury.
She may have inflamed the jury for doing that especially if they believe the young man, they WILL be angry with Cheri and her p*ss a## excuse.

Never once, and that includes all his ECO radio shows. I have probably read about a million things from Joey Dauben, I don't remember that phrase even one time. Hell where is Brandy, he texted and chatted with her all the time?
DeleteAlso, I think the Gibson boy is lying if he says Joey was drinking beer. Joey did many ECO shows while drinking but not one time did he ever say he was drinking beer, it was always some form of liquor.
It's a minor point, but Joey was well known as a beer drinker. He often expressed his appreciation of Sam Adams products. Later, around the time he moved to New Hampshire, Scotch became his drink of choice.

I'm very sickened from today's testimony as I see many others on here are as well.
THIS IS how real victims behave, reluctant to admit, no eye contact, feel ashamed, feel responsible, worry about telling anyone in fear others would think they're gay.
I even mentioned that tidbit to Webb the other night during our chat. When mentioned how he was concerned it took 4 years for the child to come forward. I explained there could be other reasons WHY it took 4 years. In my professional dealings, this would be normal especially for a male child / teen. Would feel tremendously ashamed, especially if he's not gay and people believe he's straight, chances are these children hardly ever come forward.
Now knowing that too was not true, the child came forward immediately and tried several times to tell others what happened to him. After the rape, his rage, his fear of showers, his outbursts towards others, etc all are in line with signs of a child that was raped. (Isn't that right Connie waitress? Come on, you claim to be an expert on child sexual abuse... we know you read here too... lets see you agree with yappy for once).!
I'm relieved to hear the teen has come this farin his healing process to understand & realize he was groomed by a monster and raped by a monster. It wasn't his fault. I certainly do not see a sexually aggressive child and he was also a virgin.
Oh and previous anonymous stating a "its not uncommon comment "... well here's mine. ITS NOT uncommon for a mother to come up with excuses to protect their child from serving hard time. We've all seen a prime example of this and her name was Cindy Anthony. Just as I expected, there will never be any accountability coming from the Daubens. Its safe to say that family household is probably quite highly toxic atmosphere. If I were Presley, I'd bolt tonight. Don't even pack your bags, just leave while you can.

I don't think there is any doubt that Presley was groomed for just this very thing. Joey, according to his followers, had many girlfriends. Never once did he publicize any of them. Not one time. Then when he is being released on bond, there is Presley and both of them smiling for the camera for David to take.

It makes sense that any mother would attempt to defend her son (see tonight's articles on the death of Ted Bundy's mother). But what doesn't make sense is her trying to explain away those text messages with an absurd rationale (a la "the shower defense").
ReplyDeleteIf I were Joey's attorney (and thank Yahweh I'm not!), my advice to my client would be to call in sick tomorrow to the trial. Fake a seizure. Get a hangnail. But whatever you do...do NOT take the stand and try to "explain away" a lake outing with a 14-year-old kid that included masturbation discussion, followed by a shower scene. That will be suicide, plain and simple.
The D.A. will probably be up all night like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for the magic moment tomorrow. Joey thinks he's smart, and it's going to backfire. That D.A. will lead him down the path, then, BAM! And next thing you know, he'll be spouting off conspiracy theories, enemy revenge, and the jury will know exactly who and what he is.
I'm on pins and needles awaiting tomorrow's updates. Rumor has it at least one Dallas TV stations may be joining the circus beginning tomorrow. Oh, please let there be video. The popcorn's a-poppin' as we speak.
P.S., since you asked...there was a time when Joey and I exchanged e-mails, texts, FB messages and phone calls. Not once was there a reference to a shower calling his name.
Wow. Can we say CONVICTION? Maximum Sentence? I bet thats a coming down the pipe. No more Joey, no more ECO. I hope Mommy and Daddy Dauben feel like driving to a maximum security prison. Having seen what goes on there, Joey's first trip will be on the white blue bird bus with bars. He will then get a new haircut and sent for assessment and intake at a unit near Huntsville. He will spend the first few weeks with no outside contact with the "free world". He will undergo medical and psych evaluations. He will be photographed and given a BLUE horizontal OFFENDER ID badge. He will be placed into general population. The next things that will happen are that he will have to come up with a story as to why hes in prison. WORD to the wise. Dont say I got convicted of molesting a teenage boy. Everytime, several times a day, Joey will have to bend over, drop his drawers and bend over and show his asshole and lift his balls up for the officers. He will get his property went through. Then, at some point he will try to close his eyes and will be having most likely mental issues. He will come out a stone cold lifer, or stone cold in a body bag. I dont see it ending well for Joey.
